Our snowmobile trips

We have several snowmobile trips for you to choose from.

Eastcoast

We will pick you at your hotel and then we will drive to our storage, where you will get your clothes and briefing before the trip starts. The route will depend on the weather and driving conditions. We drive east through the impressive valley Adventdalen towards Sassendalen, which is yet another huge valley cutting from east to west. We turn east through the magnificent Sassendalen and decide which route to take east depending on the conditions. Normally we cross Nordmannsfonna and drive down the glacier Usherbreen to Mohnbukta. Now we find ourselves on the deserted east coast where we will see mighty icebergs, glacier fronts and the remains of past polar-bear hunting! If we are lucky, we may even get a glimpse of the polar bear – the King of the Arctic. We make several stops along the way and will also enjoy a hot lunch.

Since you are a private group you are able to influence the outcome of the day. You can decide to stop more or less. Maybe change the destination or decide to have focus on what you like.

Depending on time, weather and driving conditions, we will take a different route back to Longyearbyen.

Since we only do private groups and use top equipment our prices are a bit higher than other companies that mix and take bigger groups.

Barentsburg/Grønfjorden

We will pick you at your hotel and then we will drive to our storage, where you will get your clothes and briefing before the trip starts. The route will depend on the weather and driving conditions. This is a trip that will take you through a varied landscape with evident traces of the ice age’s ravaging of the mountains. Since you are a private group, we have the opportunity to add extra stops and experiences. In the narrow valleys and in the vast, open spaces we will probably meet a lot of reindeer that, amazingly, manage to live off the sparse plants that exist here.  Along the way we see the remains of Russian coalmining as we stop in the abandoned Russian mining town Coles Bay.  

Weather permitting, the trip continues along the coast after Coles Bay. Here we have a magnificent view of Isfjorden and the spectacular mountains on the other side of the fjord. We drive along the coast and will occasionally stop to look for seals, polar bears and walrus. The first we will see of Barentsburg is the helicopter base at Kapp Heer. If the driving and weather conditions are good, we will make a little detour to the top of the mountain above Barentsburg where there is a beautiful view of Barentsburg and Grønfjorden.  

Barentsburg is governed by the Russian government and due to the current circumstances, we will just drive through Barentsburg and not have any longer stops.

After Barentsburg we set course for Longyearbyen again, but that does not mean that there is nothing left to experience. If the conditions are favorable, we will take a different route and will make several stops along the way. The last stop before Longyearbyen is normally on the top of the glacier Longyearbreen. From here we have an astonishing view of Longyearbyen with Adventfjorden and the 1000 meters high mountain Hiortfjellet in the background. Now it is only about 15 minutes until we can stop and turn off the snowmobiles after an eventful and unforgettable day.

Hot lunch, warm drinks and snacks will be served on the trip.

Visit to an ice cave can be added to this trip for an additional 500,-/person

Tempelfiord

We will pick you at your hotel and then we will drive to our storage, where you will get your clothes and briefing before the trip starts. The route will depend on the weather and driving conditions. We drive east through the impressive valley Adventdalen towards Sassendalen, which is yet another huge valley cutting from east to west. Along the way we take several short stops to look at nature and wildlife.

We go west in Sassendalen and head for Tempelfjorden with the magnificent mountain Tempelfjellet throning ahead of us. We stop at Fredheim, the former trapper station of Hilmar Nøis. Here there are three cabins, the oldest more than 100 years old. Setting up a trapper station here was no coincidence; thousands of birds are nesting in the mountains around Tempelfjorden, there are plenty reindeer in Sassendalen and lots of seals on the fjord ice.  We use binoculars to look for wildlife on the ice in Tempelfjorden and we will also be able to see the well-known glacier front of the Tuna/Von Post-glacier sparkle in tones of blue in the distance. If weather and snow conditions permit we will drive up on the mountain “Fjordnibba” to get a magnificent view of the landscape and also spot for wildlife on the fjordice. We will have an out-door lunch. After lunch, we turn to go back to Longyearbyen. However, that does not mean that there is nothing more to be experienced. Weather permitting, we will choose a different route back and make several stops.
